Razor Bump Avoidance Tutorial Video (part 1)

tutorial for people of color on how to shave properly while at the same time avoiding razor bump outbreaks 11-24-09 After reviewing this video I realized that I did not put enough emphasis on the critical area where your neck ends and your head begins. This area is the notorious razor bump breeding ground due to the direction switch of the hair growth in that region. Hair on the neck; for the most part tends to grow upward, while all other facial hair tends to grow downward. Even if you try shaving down on your face and up on the neck, chances are some hairs will receive that close “against the hair” shave which causes ingrown hair for people of color. I strongly suggest not shaving the neck at all with the manual razor. Hair trimmers on the neck are the way to go. That is the method that works for me, but remember… everyones face is different and what works for me may not work for you. Most importantly, try be aware of your facial hair growth direction and shave in that direction; not against it. Use hair trimmers; not manual razors in problem areas. Trial and error. I’ve become attached to this look, but part 2 will be coming soon.
