Shaving has been the most utilized method for years due to being relatively cheap and essentially

available to all. The negative aspects of shaving include required maintenance every 1 to 3 days, skin irritation from razor burn, razor bumps, nicks or cuts and ingrown hairs. These are not the results you want for bikini line hair removal in those sensitive areas.

Plucking is another inexpensive method since all you need are tweezers. Plucking is very time consuming since you only remove one hair at a time. It can also be very painful, result in ingrown hairs from breaking the shaft below the skin and cause red bumps from irritation of the hair follicle. This procedure requires maintenance every couple of weeks to remain viable.

Waxing increases the cost of bikini line hair removal along with the pain you will suffer since you are pulling several hairs out by the roots all at once. Just think about how this will feel in those sensitive areas. You will typically have to undergo this treatment every 3 to 6 weeks.

Electrolysis kills the hair by sending an electrical current through the root. It is both very expensive and time consuming. It takes several visits just to treat an area such as the upper lip and is therefore better suited for these types of small areas.

Laser treatments can cover broad areas and are intended to be permanent although future applications may be required. Unfortunately, the extremely high cost leaves this alternative out of the reach of the majority of us.

A depilatory is a cream for quickly removing hair by virtually dissolving the hair shaft. It is inexpensive and pain free. Application may be required every 2 weeks but, many people report that over time, hair re-growth is eliminated. Most depilatories can be used anywhere on the body but, check the label to insure it is safe for bikini line hair removal.
